Drive-by shooting kills two people, injures 12 outside North Miami funeral home

NORTH MIAMI, Fla | March 31, 2012

A drive-by shooting killed two people and injured 12 others outside a North Miami funeral home after a service for a shooting victim, police said.

Shots, reportedly from a high-powered weapon, erupted from a passing car Friday night as more than 100 people were gathered outside the funeral home.No suspects were in custody Saturday, The Miami Herald reported.

"I was on my way out of the chapel when I heard the shots," said A.D. Lenoir, the pastor who officiated at the service. "I told people to look for cover. It was chaos."

People were screaming and crying, he said.

"It hurts me that after such a moving and stirring message, this happens -- a shooting at a shooting victim's funeral," Lenoir said.

One of the two people killed was shot in the chest, witnesses said. The Herald said one victim was a child shot in the leg.

The service at Funeraria Latina Emanuel in the 14900 block of West Dixie Highway was for Marvin Andre, 22, of North Miami, who had been killed in an earlier shooting, witnesses said.

Police were searching for six men in a white 2006 or 2009 Pontiac or Impala, WSVN-TV, Miami, reported. Anyone with information is asked to call 305-471-8477.
