Tropical Storm Danny drifts west

Storm expected to track just off the Atlantic coast from North Carolina northward

BALTIMORE | August 27, 2009

Tropical Storm Danny was drifting ever-so-slowly west toward the U.S. coast Thursday night but forecasters predicted the storm will soon take a much more northerly course, along the Atlantic Coast but not hitting land.

Based upon the 5 PM update from the National Hurricane Center, Danny has sustained winds of 50 MPH. Forecasters now believe Danny will not become a hurricane.
