A damaging wind storm in this small Vermont town Saturday evening was confirmed by meteorologists Monday to be a tornado -- an unusual occurance for this part of the world.

The storm left a trail of damage about a half-mile long. The most serious damage occurred at the town's elementary school and an apartment building which lost its roof, forcing six families to find new housing.
