A gunman shot and killed two people at a mall Sunday afternoon before being fatally shot by police.

Witnesses said the gunman ran through a parking lot at the Ward Parkway Center and killed two people. He then went inside the mall and wounded several others before being shot and killed by police.

A police officer was wounded when he attempted to stop the gunman at a gas station about 15 minutes before the mall shootings. Authorities said the gunman was driving a car that belonged to an elderly woman who was found dead earlier in the day in her home.
