At least three people were killed and more than 20 people were wounded in San Bernardino, CA, Wednesday morning.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred at the Inland Regional Center, a social services agency for developmentally disabled adults.

Survivors are being treated in a nearby street where they are being sent to local hospitals.

Local police say they are seeking as many as three suspects in the incident.

SWAT units from a number of area police forces are on the scene. Agents from the ATF's Los Angeles field office are also responding.

According to the center's Facebook page, a holiday party was held at the center on Tuesday and there were plans for a dance on Friday.

In California, regional centers are nonprofit private corporations that contract with the Department of Developmental Services to provide or coordinate services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities.

More than 650 employees were reported to work in the San Bernardino facility.

San Bernardino is a city of about 200,000 east of Los Angeles.
