Quake shakes Emilia-Romagna region of Italy

4.5-magnitude quake shakes Italy a day after death toll from two recent earthquakes rises

ROME | June 6, 2012

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook Italy's Emilia-Romagna region Wednesday, a day after the death toll from two earthquakes that hit the area in May rose to 26.

The quake's epicenter was near the coastal city of Ravenna, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

No major damage has been reported from the quake.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the May 20 and 29 quakes rose from 24 to 26 Tuesday when two people died of the injuries they suffered during the quakes.

The May earthquakes left thousands of people homeless in Emilia-Romagna and caused about $6.2 billion in damage to the region.
