As many as 100 people were injured late Sunday morning when a massive explosion hit a large power plant in Middletown that was still under construction.
"There was a massive explosion, there are multiple injuries and possible fatalities," said George Yepes, a spokesman for the Middletown, CT, police. Residents 10 miles away reported feeling the blast.
The Kleen Energy plant is being built along the Connecticut River near here.
Reportedly, the explosion occurred during an operating test. The power plant had been due to start generating electricity this year.
