Storms over Texas created a tornado that touched down in Elton, La. The city is northwest of Lafayette in Jefferson Davis Parish. Fire Chief John Richer said no one was injured, but there was damage to homes. One residence was destroyed, 12 others received damage.

The tornado caused significant damage to the roofs of some of the homes and they had to be tarped immediately. “If they don’t get fixed, they get mold on them and can’t be lived in,” said Richer.

The storms in Texas caused minor flooding on Thursday. The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings in Texas and Mississippi. But no significant flooding or damage has been reported.
