At least five people were killed and dozens more injured Friday as severe storms pounded Missouri and Kentucky and more storms were predicted for the weekend.
The storms left at least 150,000 people without power in Missouri where three people were killed when high winds, severe thunderstorms and flash flooding hit Friday.
In Kentucky, two people were killed when an EF2 tornoado with winds of 120 mph struck the small community of Kirksville near Lexington. Both fatalities occurred when the tornado hit a mobile home. About 150 homes were damaged or destroyed by the storms according to Michael Bryant, assistant deputy emergency management director for Madison County.
