Residents in Catalina Island’s main city of Avalon felt a magnitude-4.2 earthquake early Thursday morning.

Authorities say the magnitude-4.2 earthquake shook in the pacific ocean 40 miles south of Avalon and 60 miles off the coast of San Diego. Law enforcement and hospital officials in Avalon say they got several calls from people who felt the quake, but San Diego authorities say they received no calls about the quake. No damage or injuries were reported from the quake.
