NJ Turnpike closed in bomb report

Highway closed in both directions for 33-miles while FBI, bomb unit respond

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ | January 20, 2009

The NJ Turnpike was closed in both directions between the Delaware Memorial Bridge and the Mount Laurel exit shortly after 6 o’clock Tuesday night after NJ State Police stopped “a suspicious vehicle.”

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the state police bomb unit responded

Philadelphia television stations showed the car being searched and an object being removed and taken away from the scene by a mechanical robot.

A state police spokesman said the driver of the car was taken to a local police station but had not yet been charged.
