Four homes were destroyed Sunday in Hood County as Texas firefighters continue to fight wildfires across drought-stricken portions of that state.

According to the Texas Forest Service, firefighters responded to 31 fires that consumed more than 2,100 acres since Friday.

In Washington State, a wildfire was threatening about 20 homes near Kartar. The Columbia River Fire has burned nearly 21,000 acres according the Karen Ripley, spokeswoman for the firefighters.

In Wyoming, the Gunbarrel Fire has now burned more than 54 square miles of land, largely in the Shoshone National Forest. Several lodges have been evacuated but the fire is primarily burning in wilderness areas.
