JAKARTA | November 6, 2007

A 30-year-old Indonesian woman has died of bird flu, the 90th death reported in that country since 2005, the World Health Organization reported Monday.

Officials said there had been poultry deaths in the woman's neighborhood before she became ill.

The unidentified woman, from Tangerang west of Jakarta, was hospitalized Oct. 31 and died three days later of H5N1 avian influenza.

The case was the 112th in Indonesia, which leads the world in both cases reported and fatalities from the disease. Vietnam has reported 100 cases and 46 deaths since 2003 when bird flu re-emerged.

Worldwide, there have been 334 cases reported, of which 205 were fatal, WHO reported.
