Plane crash kills two in CA

Two people are confirmed dead after a small business jet crashed near the Van Nuys, Calif, airport Friday.

Two people are confirmed dead after a small business jet crashed near the Van Nuys, Calif, airport Friday.

The Cessna Citation crashed a half-mile north of the airport Friday morning local time. Witnesses said the plane was trying to take off. The Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot reported an emergency and was trying to return to the airport.

The plane had been scheduled to fly to Long Beach Airport. Television images show fire crews spraying foam on charred wreckage near a road.
