Tornadoes touched down in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties in Maryland on Thursday evening, damaging several dozen homes, according to local emergency management reports.

The communities of Severna Park (Anne Arundel County) and Bowie (Prince George's County) both reported residential damage.

In Anne Arundel County, about 20 houses were damaged by falling trees. Five of those homes are uninhabitable, said a county emergency management spokesperson. One person was injured.

In Prince George's County, about two dozen homes had minor to moderate structural damage, according to reports from the fire department.

Meteorologists will visit the area on Friday to confirm a tornado has hit.

The twister spun off a line of severe storms that moved through Maryland, then headed for Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.
