Tornadoes in south-central Minnesota killed at least one person and injured several others on Thursday evening.

Tornadoes in south-central Minnesota killed at least one person and injured several others on Thursday evening.

At least a dozen homes were damaged in Nicollet County, reported eyewitnesses. The town of Nicollet is home to about 800 people.

Many of the damaged homes were farmhouses along a 10-mile stretch of highway near Nicollet. Damage was also reported in the communities of Kasota and Cleveland. Structures in Le Sueur County also sustained some damage.

The National Weather Service confirmed at least three tornadoes hit the area.
