Tornadoes killed two people and caused localized pockets of damage in southern Missouri over the weekend.

Several people were injured when one twister stayed on the ground for 20 miles.

Rural Perry County bore the brunt of the damage, according to local emergency management reports. At least six homes were destroyed and six others were badly damaged.

Jefferson County - just south of St. Louis - reported that seven homes were destroyed.

As the tornado crossed the Mississippi River, it damaged homes and businesses in Fults, Illinois, as well.

More severe weather was brewing for the area through Sunday, forecasters said.
