A 4,000-acre wildfire threatened high-end homes in California on Friday but was 15 percent contained on Saturday, according to reports from fire officials.

The blaze was fueled by hot Santa Ana winds, and it plowed through the canyons along the Southern California coastline.

Most of the threatened homes were in Ventura, 60 miles north of Los Angeles. Two evacuation centers were opened.

Most of Southern California is under a "red flag warning," which means dry and windy conditions leave communities at high risk for fires.
