It's possible that Tropical Storm Earl could follow Charley's path, said forecasters on Saturday evening.

Earl was one of two tropical storms that were gathering strength in the Atlantic on Saturday. Earl was expected to grow into a hurricane.

A five-day forecast issued by the National Hurricane Center put Earl on a similar path to Charley. The storm could approach the Gulf of Mexico by Thursday but forecasters said track predictions this early were not reliable.

By Saturday night, Earl had 40-mph winds.

The other tropical storm, Danielle, was not expected to threaten land.
