A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Mexico City and Acapulco Thursday.

There were no immediate reports of damage but the quake was strong enough to send people fleeing into the streets as buildings shook around them.

Aftershocks as strong as 5.2 were being reported.

The temblor was centered 25 miles east of the resort of Zihuatanejo, and struck about 5:30 p.m. local time, according to the National Earthquake Information Center in Colorado.
